Tracy Hines, director of Enterprise Networks and Cybersecurity for the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare (OPNAV N2N6), issued a public service announcement on Nov. 14 about the U.S. Navy's "biggest cloud technology advance" — Flank Speed..
"Flank Speed is more than just meetings and chats; we are barely scratching the surface of this awesome potential," Rear Adm. Hines said of the cloud-based Microsoft Office 365 suite. Designed to improve collaboration, productivity and security using an agile approach, Flank Speed was successfully rolled out more than a year ago across the Department of the Navy Enterprise to hundreds of thousands of users.
"It is time to realize the next level in productivity, engagement and automation, and it starts right now," she said, encouraging the workforce to look for opportunities to use Flank Speed in their day-to-day work. Capabilities continue to improve, offering tools such as the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), and availability of the collaborative environment continues to increase for personnel across the DON.
"Connect, align and engage in Flank Speed today," Rear Adm. Hines said, concluding her remarks with an uplifting "Hooyah, Shipmates!"
